Soccer Association for Youth of San Antonio, Inc.
BACKGROUND
The Soccer Association for Youth of San Antonio, Inc. was organized in 2002 to provide a recreational environment for children to learn and play soccer, the world's most popular sport. We are an affiliate of Soccer Association for Youth (SAY), a non-profit youth soccer organization founded in 1967. SAY has over 150,000 players and 36,000 coaches in over 600 leagues across the United States. Our league has 4,000 children and almost 400 teams participating annually in our program. The overall objective of our recreational program is maximum participation, which means every child will play at least half of every match. Having fun while developing skills is important, which is why we do not keep scores or standings.
Our organization is a great example of a "grass roots" effort to provide an affordable youth recreational soccer program in the San Antonio metropolitan area. We believe it is important to give back to the sport that has been so enjoyable and rewarding to us as coaches, parents and players. Which is why we started the Soccer Association for Youth of San Antonio -- your "family-oriented" local youth soccer organization. One great feature of our program is that all players are recognized -- each player receives a participation medal at the end of each season.
We are a non-profit organization managed entirely by volunteer administrators. As such, our organization is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donors may deduct contributions to our league as provided in Section 170(c) of the Code.
