Come experience an adventure this summer with the City of San Marcos Discovery Camp!

 The Parks and

Recreation Department is offering 9 themed weeks

of exploring, adventure, and discovery. Campers will

have the chance to be outside, do experiments, build

things, get messy, work as a team, develop leadership

skills, and have FUN! Registration begins April 4 for

residents and April 25 for non-residents.

Age: 7Y-14Y

Time: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Location: Dunbar Recreation Center

Fee: $150 for Residents $175 for Non-Residents

Superhero Week

Date(s): Jun 13 - Jun 17

Even superheroes have to be well trained in multiple

areas before they can save the day! Kick off the

summer with Discovery Camp as we learn about

fitness, leadership, teamwork, and problem solving

skills while we train the campers to be the best

superhero they can be! The campers will be taking a

field trip to Spring Loaded.$150 for Residents$175 for

Non-Residents

Frozen Week

Date(s): Jun 20 - Jun 24

Campers will learn about the three different forms

of water and how it effects our bodies and weather

by engaging in exciting and fun activities and

experiments. Get ready for a massive water and

snowball fight! The campers will be taking a field trip

to the San Antonio Zoo.$150 for Residents$175 for

Non-Residents

Blast From the Past Week

Date(s): Jun 13 - Jul 1

Texas has a rich and diverse history full of fossils, art,

and exciting locations! This week we will discover the

past, explore the present, and talk about the future

of Texas. The campers will be taking a field trip to

Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.$150 for

Residents$175 for Non-Residents

Mayhem I Week

Date(s): Jul 4 - Jul 8

Count on making a mess and having some fun! Join

us for gooey experiments, water balloons, volcanoes,

mud, and more as we spend the week being crazy

and messy scientists. We suggest wearing old clothes

and bringing a swimsuit for afternoon cleanup and

water play. The campers will be taking a field trip to

the Austin Zoo. Note: The will be no camp on July

4th.$150 for Residents$175 for Non-Residents

Blast Off Week

Date(s): Jul 11 - Jul 15

Come join us as we learn about the sun, stars,

planets and everything else above! The campers will

be taking a field trip to The DoSeum in San Antonio.

This camp will be at the Old Fish Hatchery. $150 for

Residents$175 for Non-Residents

Outdoor Adventure Week

Date(s): Jul 18 - Jul 22

Want to go on a grand adventure? Hop on the

bus with us as we explore San Marcos parks and

surrounding areas as we learn to geocache and

appreciate the great outdoors! The campers will

be taking a field trip to visit Natural Bridge Wildlife

Park.$150 for Residents$175 for Non-Residents

Mastery Week

Date(s): Jul 25 - Jul 29

Become masters of your skills this week as Discovery

Camp teaches about basic first aid and building skills.

Campers will learn how to assess their surroundings,

critically think situations, and be creative with the

supplies they are given. The campers will be

taking a field trip to The Thinkery in Austin.$150 for

Residents$175 for Non-Residents

River Rat Week

Date(s): Aug 1 - Aug 5

Discovery camp proves environmental education can

be fun! Using curriculum from the Edwards Aquifer

Authority, kids will learn about our river and watershed

through different activities and staff at our Discovery

Center. The campers will be taking a field trip to the

Meadows Center for a Glass Bottom Boat tour.$150

for Residents$175 for Non-Residents
