*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 10/14/2023
The San Antonio region will experience two solar eclipse events within the next ten months. Celebrate with us as we provide a festival atmosphere for the annular or "Ring of Fire" eclipse on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9:30am to 2:30pm at the west side of the San Antonio College campus immediately surrounding the Scobee Education Center.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

The earliest recordings of humans document the importance of the sun and moon to the development and survival of the world’s cultures. From the ancient people of Stonehenge, the Great Pyramids, or Chaco Canyon’s Pueblo Bonito, communities have strived to understand how the sun’s movements impact their lives.

Events like solar eclipses hold a special place in the hearts and minds of those who experience them.  As the anticipation of totality approaches, communities gather together to share a common almost supernatural experience.  People who have no prior association with one another share these experiences as a community and remember their overwhelmingly immersive nature for years to come.

Sponsored in part by the NASA Community Anchor Grant, the general event will be free to the community with food trucks, and community vendors providing products and services across campus.  With the completion of a quick survey free solar filter glasses will be available for families while supplies last.
